Combined Degree Programs in Nursing

Al-Subtain University for Medical Sciences

Why These Programs?

Please note that these programs are currently under development and pending official approvals from the relevant authorities. If you are interested in enrolling, we encourage you to follow the university's official channels for the latest updates.

If you aspire to specialize in an advanced field of nursing, the Combined Degree Programs offer you both a Bachelor's and a Master's degree in just five years instead of six — a full year saved in your academic journey, without compromising any academic or clinical requirement.

Available Programs

1. Oncology Nursing

This program is designed for those who wish to accompany cancer patients throughout their entire treatment journey, from diagnosis to palliative care. Clinical training covers chemotherapy management, radiotherapy, surgical interventions, bone marrow transplantation, and home care services. Graduates are eligible to work in oncology intensive care units, outpatient oncology clinics, home care settings, and oncology hospices, and may apply for licensure as an Oncology Nurse Consultant within Iraq.

2. Critical Care Nursing

This program is for those who seek to work in the most demanding and high-stakes healthcare environments. Clinical training spans ten specialized units: General ICU, Coronary Care Unit (CCU), Open Heart Surgery ICU, Neurosurgery ICU, Stroke Care Unit, Transplant ICU, Burn ICU, Cancer ICU, Emergency ICU, and Renal Replacement Therapy. Graduates are eligible to work in ICCU, CCU, emergency departments, and pre-hospital services, and may apply for licensure as a Critical Care Nurse Consultant within Iraq.

3. Neonatal/Pediatrics Intensive Care Nursing

This program is for those drawn to caring for the most vulnerable patients. Clinical training covers neonatal cardiac, respiratory, and neurological intensive care units, along with fluid administration, vascular access, haemovigilance, renal replacement therapy, and the specialized EPIQ program. Graduates are eligible to work in NICCUs, pediatric emergency departments, and acute care units, and may apply for licensure as a Neonatal Critical Care Nurse Consultant within Iraq.

What Do All Three Programs Share?

Each program awards 161 credit hours combining theoretical study, laboratory work, and intensive clinical training spanning two full years in the relevant specialized setting. The curriculum is grounded in evidence-based practice and encompasses leadership, research, and care management skills. All programs are developed in academic partnership with Tehran University of Medical Sciences.

Admission Requirements

Applicants must first be admitted to Al-Subtain University for Medical Sciences, then opt into their chosen Combined Degree Program. Admission to the university does not automatically guarantee admission to the specialized program; therefore, applicants are advised to apply to both simultaneously.
