Leadership and Governance

The College of Nursing and Midwifery at Al-Subtain University of Medical Sciences (SUMS) in Karbala operates as an international branch of Tehran University of Medical Sciences (TUMS). Its leadership and governance are structured to align with international academic standards and the strategic vision of the Holy Shrine of Imam Hussain. The College of Nursing and Midwifery is committed to excellence in education, research, and community service through a transparent, accountable, and participatory governance system. The governance structure ensures effective leadership, strategic decision-making, and adherence to academic and professional standards.

Leadership and Key Personnel

Dean of the College: Professor Dr. Ali Kareem Al-Juboori. He also serves as the Chairman of the Committee of curriculum development  and updating of Nursing Colleges in Iraq.

Governance and Strategic Pillars

International Framework: As a branch of TUMS, the college adopts a governance model that mirrors its parent institution, focusing on strategic planning, quality assurance, and accredited curricula.

Humanitarian Focus: Governance emphasizes two core pillars: Human and Ethical Treatment of patients and Robust Scientific Knowledge.

Quality and Accreditation: Dedicated units focus on Quality Assurance and Academic Accreditation to maintain the university status as a leading international medical institution in Iraq.

In Iraqi law, Leadership and Governance represent the structural and legal framework used to manage state institutions and private entities. These systems are designed to ensure accountability, transparency, and the rule of law.
