As part of national efforts to develop nursing science curricula and improve its outputs in accordance with modern academic standards, Professor Dr. Ali Karim Khudair, Dean of the College of Nursing and Midwifery at Al-Sibtain University for Medical Sciences, participated in the meeting of the Nursing Curricula Committee in Iraq, which was held on Tuesday, May 12, 2026, chaired by Professor Dr. Sadiq Abdul Hussein Hassan, with the participation of a number of heads of specialized committees.

The meeting addressed the mechanism of work of the expert advisory committees based on the directives of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, according to Circular No. (1506-52404) issued on May 10, 2026, where the importance of updating and developing the learning outcomes of the Bachelor of Science in Nursing program was emphasized in line with scientific developments and approved standards.

The committee's work witnessed the active participation of Dr. Ali Karim Khudair, who was tasked, along with a number of specialized professors, with supervising the development of the Competencies module. This module represents one of the most important pillars in preparing graduates with high professional skills and the ability to meet the demands of the labor market. He contributed his academic expertise to enriching scientific discussions and formulating directions that contribute to improving the quality of nursing education in Iraq.

The committee confirmed the adoption of three basic axes in formulating learning outcomes, including knowledge, skills and competencies, in accordance with SMART Goals standards, and in line with the national guide for writing learning outcomes, with the inclusion of modern topics such as artificial intelligence and green education within the curricula.

It was also agreed that the number of learning outcomes would range between 10 and 12, ensuring they are clear, measurable, and evaluable. A timeframe of May 15-22, 2026, was set for their completion, after which they would be reviewed and officially approved.

 

This active participation of Professor Dr. Ali Karim Khudair reflects the leading role played by the College of Nursing and Midwifery at Al-Sibtain University of Medical Sciences in supporting the development of higher education and contributing to the preparation of qualified nursing professionals capable of serving the community and advancing the health sector in Iraq.
