Welcome to College of Nursing

The College of Nursing and Midwifery at Al-Subtain University of Medical Sciences represents a modern academic institution that draws upon the distinguished legacy of the School of Nursing and Midwifery, Tehran University of Medical Sciences, one of the oldest and most prestigious nursing schools in the region. Established in 1936, the parent school has played a pioneering role for more than eight decades in nursing and midwifery education, scientific research, professional practice, academic leadership, and international collaboration.

Inspired by this distinguished academic heritage, the College of Nursing and Midwifery at Al-subtain University of Medical Sciences was established during the 2022–2023 academic year under the patronage of the General Secretariat of Al-Hussain Holy Shrine, within the Health and Medical Education Authority. The College was founded to prepare highly qualified nursing and midwifery professionals capable of meeting the growing needs of Iraq's healthcare system.

Since its establishment, the College has adopted the same credit-hour academic system and curricula implemented by its parent institution, ensuring high educational standards and alignment with internationally recognized academic practices. The College currently enrolls approximately 200 undergraduate students.

The College operates in accordance with the laws, regulations, and instructions of the Iraqi Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Department of Private Higher Education. Its administrative affairs are managed by qualified Iraqi academic and administrative staff, while its scientific and academic programs are supervised by distinguished faculty members from Tehran University of Medical Sciences in close collaboration with leading Iraqi academics, creating a unique model of academic integration and excellence.

Looking toward the future, the College is committed to expanding its postgraduate education by launching Master's programs in Clinical Nursing in four specialized fields: Cardiac Care Nursing, Critical Care Nursing, Neonatal Intensive Care Nursing, and Oncology Nursing. In addition, the College plans to activate the Department of Reproductive Health and Midwifery Sciences, further strengthening its contribution to healthcare education, scientific research, and community service in Iraq.
